A lot of rumours and leaks have been coming up regarding the Android 7.0 Nougat. Earlier it was claimed that Android Nougat will come to nexus devices as early as this month. Later on a report further suggested that Android N might well come with the August 5 security update. But that didn't come out to be true. Now a report claims that Google will roll out the next Android version starting from August 22nd.
The claim made by 9 to 5 Google in its latest report is based on the Software Update Schedule of Canadian carrier Telus which was posted on the teleco's official forum. The report claims that Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X will be the first ones to receive the update and hopefully soon the update will be passed on to other flagships as well.
Interestingly, this year Google has been a lot ahead of time in releasing the next version of Android. The search Giant released the first developer preview of Android 7.0 about 2 months before the Google I/O. Moreover, it's been a full one month since Google released the final developer preview of Android 7.0 Nougat. Though Motorola's Nexus 6 received all the developer preview updates, there is no trace of it in the update schedule released by Telus. After the last years Nexus Duo, Nexus 6 should be the next one in line for the update.
If this news comes out to be true, then it's not far when we could experience the next version of Android on our smartphones. However, if you have an Android device that is more than a couple of years old, there are high chances that you won't get the update.
